The Learning Analytics (LA) Lab​ of the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Organization and Informatics comprises an interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners dealing with learning analytics, academic analytics, and related areas such as learning design.

ABOUT RESEARCH

Balanced Design Planning Tool

Developed by members of the Learning Analytics Lab, the BDP tool is an innovative, research-based learning design solution that integrates learning analytics, AI and pedagogical innovations to support evidence-informed course design and teaching practice.
Based on extensive research and international collaboration, the BDP tool is a constructive-alignment-oriented and modular solution grounded in learning outcomes and learner workload, enabling educators to design balanced, aligned and meaningful learning experiences.

Within a study visit, on Friday and Monday, 16 and 19 February 2024, Professor Blaženka Divjak, accompanied by Professor Valentina Kirinić, visited two universities in Singapore: Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. The universities are among the top 20 universities of the world.

On Friday, 22 March 2024, Professor Blaženka Divjak participated as one of the panelists in the discussion on Building Collaborative Pathways for Research and Industry in LA within the LAK24 conference in Kyoto. The panel also included Professor Dragan Gašević (Monash University), Dr Alina von Davier (Duolingo), Associate Professor Srećko Joksimović (University of South Australia), and Dr Kristen DiCerbo (Khan Academy).

On Monday, 18 March 2024, within the pre-conference program of this year's Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference (LAK24) in Kyoto, Japan, Professor Blaženka Divjak, with Professor Bart Rienties (Open University) and Professor Dragan Gašević (Monash University), held a workshop on the development of innovative learning design. It was a sequel of the last year's LAK23 workshop, but with a new angle, looking at the intersection of learning design and AI.

On Tuesday, 19 March 2024, Professor Divjak participated in the organization of another pre-conference workshop of the Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference (LAK24) in Kyoto, Japan. The whole-day workshop was held by a team of international academics and LA experts, including also Professor Dragan Gašević (Monash University), Assistant Professor Yoon Jeon Kim (University of Wisconsin) and Dr Abhinava Barthakur (University of South Australia).

On Monday, 12 February 2024, Professor Blaženka Divjak was hosted by University of South Australia's (UniSA) Center for Change and Complexity in Education in Adelaide, where she gave a presentation entitled Enhancing Quality Assurance: Integrating a Learning Design Tool and Learning Analytics, attended by more than 20 UniSA’s educators and researchers.

From 13 until 17 March 2023, the Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference (LAK23), the worlds’ biggest conference on learning analytics (LA), was held at the University of Texas (Arlington), organized by the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SOLAR). The overarching topic of the conference was Towards Trustworthy Learning Analytics. Professor Blaženka Divjak, the Head of the LA Lab, took an active part in a number of activities.
